Service Learning

Students at Beloit Jr. Sr. High School are required to complete service learning hours for graduation at the rate of ten hours per year. Forty service learning hours are required for graduation and must be completed prior to graduation of the student's senior year.

Forms and information will be handed out by the service learning coordinator at class meetings. Service learning regulations and forms are also available from the coordinator.

Students who complete forty hours of service will be recognized at graduation in the commencement program. Students who complete 80+ hours of service will also receive 1/4 credit of social studies in citizenship, which can be used for resume purposes.

Students and parents who are unable to complete the forty hours of service learning due to special circumstances are able to opt out of the program by making an appointment with the high school principal during the first ten days of school. Both the parent and the student must be present at the meeting held to opt out of the service learning graduation requirement.
